Risk and Resilience

We had such a positive response to the last issue on ‘Building Resilience’, that we decided to continue the theme in this edition of KINDLING, with the focus on risk. The ‘fear factor’ however, runs through both issues, influencing our decision-making processes with our children. Will they be safe? is an underlying concern. These questions are discussed in the articles, as well as ideas provided help us consciously become active in overcoming our own, often culturally developed, media-fuelled fears. We should try to develop ‘inner tranquillity’, as shown by Rudolf Steiner in the exercises given, and find ways of developing trust. This allows our children to find their own way in life, to develop their capacities to understand their own boundaries, and to be able to test their limits and learn from their attempts.
